Diam Bouchage is a French company located in the Pyrénées Orientales and since 2005, which was the first launch date of the Diam cork (and 2006, the launch date of the Mytik cork), has witnessed a resounding success. The company has revolutionised the cork market offering entirely safe products thanks to the Diamant process, which is a patented method allowing for purification of cork.
In order to deal with the growing level of demand on markets (73% of sales are intended for export to Italy, USA, Argentina, Spain, etc.), there was a real need to increase the cork processing capacities. Across all sites considered globally, the company operated for Céret, close to its registered office in the Pyrénées Orientales. This new technological tool, which has been operational since September 2015, generated around thirty new jobs, not to mention industrial jobs with sub-contractors manufacturing the new processing plant.
DIAM Bouchage in Céret is, therefore, the only French company manufacturing cork stoppers using real cork as a raw material. This is notably the case of the Mytik range for champagnes and sparkling wines.
The company has gone one step further since it has become the largest buyer of French cork plantations in the Var and the Roussillon, allowing these to be conserved and to operate reforestation policies.
Through such initiatives, Diam Bouchage has shown that the French have real capacity for innovation, and that France has industrial assets and expertise, and all that is needed is the desire of entrepreneurs for projects to become a success in France.
